Poetry Reading with Tino Villanueva, Boston University. Tino Villanueva is a widely acclaimed poet, artist, and scholar. Born in San Marcos, Texas, he lives in Boston where he teaches at the University. With his first collection of poetry Hay otra voz, published in 1972, Villanueva established himself as a major voice of an emerging Mexican-American or Chicano literature. In 1994 he received the American Book Award for his long poem Scene from the movie Giant. His poetry is featured in the Norton Anthology of Latino Literature (2012). Villanueva will read from his poetry and discuss the role of Chicano culture in the America of today.
