Lecture by Sarah Canon, University of Tübingen/Madison, WI. Since the United States were settled by European immigrants, early American architecture reflected the architectural trends in Europe. This talk will discuss how the early builders and architects derived American versions from European
styles and mirrored the culture they left behind, and how American architects began to develop styles that are truly American. Sarah Canon from Madison, WI, and currently a visiting Professor at the University of Tübingen, studied Architecture at Yale University and the University of Minnesota. She works both as an architect and as a teacher for the History of American Architecture.
