Indischer Abend

Indische Nacht im Charivari
Am Freitag, 21. Oktober, findet im Charivari wieder eine indische Nacht statt. Monalisa Ghosh, eine der wichtigsten Vertreterinnen der jungen Generation von Odissi-Tänzerinnen, und Arindam Banerjee, Choreograph und Tänzer, präsentieren zusammen mit dem Musiker-Ensemble aus Orissa ihr Programm „Spirit of India“.
Im Tanz-Drama „Chitrangada“ kombinieren sie die klassischen indischen Tanzstile Odissi und Bharatnatyam mit zeitgenössischen, indischen Ballett-Tanzformen und entführen uns so in eine andere Welt. Der farbenprächtige Abend beginnt um 20.30 Uhr und wird wieder bereichert durch indische Speisen.

Monalisa Ghosh
Monalisa Ghosh, one of the leading exponents of Odissi Dance, choreographer and teacher, spent her childhood in Orissa .Her training under Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra Smt. Sanjukta Panigrahi, and Guru Ramani Ranjan Jena brought her to the center-stage as a dancer of National and International repute. Her dance has been nationally and internationally acclaimed for classicism, lyricism and spiritual expression.

Arindam Banerjee
A veteran Bharatnatyam and contemporary ballet performer and choreographer, Arindam is the director of Berhampur Kalakshetra, and widely presents outstanding choreographies all throughout the year.

Tushar Sarkar - Vocal
Formal vocal training from Pandit Chinmay Lihiri, as a youth in Classical vocal, and Sri Nirmalendu Choudhury on folk songs. Apart from solo performances since last 45 years, Tushar Sarkar has accompanied in Odissi with leading Odissi Dancers for Festivals in India. In 1995 he first performed in Europe , conducted workshop and was interviewed by the Bayern Radio. He is a teacher and a performer of Bengali Folk and a renowned vocalist of Odissi .

Rama Chandra Behera - Mardala
Born in a tiny village of Orissa, Gararengala, Rama received authentic Mardala and percussion training from Guru Dhaneswar Swain, at Orissa sangeet Mahavidyalay, Bhubaneswar.
Being a talented Mardal player and scholarship holder, he soon was invited to accompany internationally renowned Dancers all over the world. He is one of the youngest mardal player of Orissa who is widely touring India and foreign countries for festivals and shows with veteran Odissi Dancers regularly.

Amit Biswas - Manjeera and Surmandal
A renowned architect by profession Amit took up learning percussion and Mardala under Guru Giridhari Nayak due to his intense love for music and dance.
He is the group manager and donates voluntary service for the Gurukul Kalajyoti, where under privileged adolescents are groomed and promoted free of cost to become performers and earn their living.
