The Alzheimer Poetry Project does away with the stage and podium and gets directly in touch with the audience. These uniquely moving readings, founded by Glazner in 2004, aim to enhance the quality of life for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, and their caretakers. Poems are recited directly to the patients, often while holding their hands. These events provide people who may otherwise have very little human contact with an emotional outlet.
