The Living Nickelodeon offers todays audiences the chance to relive the multimedia spectacle that characterized film exhibition during the two decades between the invention of cinema and the rise of feature films. Rather than simply watching images on a screen, the early cinema-goers were treated to a live film performance – hand-colored slide projections paired with live song and piano. Film historian Altman will not only discuss this period of history, he will fully immerse us in its delights by projecting slides, singing and playing the piano for us.
