Training children as warriors of God in the battle against abortion and evolution is the goal of the “Jesus Camp”. The documentary portrays three children at the ages of 10 and 11: Levi wants to become a preacher, Tory likes dancing to Christian heavy metal music, and Rachael tries to convert non-believers through distributing brochures. When pastor Becky Fisher preaches and children fall to the ground in a trance, the boundaries between religious ecstasy and mass suggestion are blurred. Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing’s controversial documentary of the fundamentalist-Christian summer camp at Devil’s Lake in North Dakota shows a part of the radical-evangelical community in the US and was nominated for an Oscar in 2007.
