Mit Diane Ghrist, Rent an American, d.a.i. Tübingen. What does it mean to be American? Does it mean you were born in the USA? Does it mean your parents were born in the USA? What if many of your family members still reside in another country? In the USA, a nation of immigrants, identity and homeland are not simple concepts. Whether recent arrivals or descendants of American revolutionaries, many Americans retain strong ties to their homeland while embracing the USA and shaping their own American identity.
